Magnificent Gems from Sotheby’s

Ruby and Diamond Ring
Ruby and Diamond Ring

Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels auction in Geneva achieved sales of US$ 160.9 million, the highest ever total for a Jewelry auction. Records were broken throughout the evening, culminating with ‘The Sunrise Ruby’, an exceptional and immeasurably rare 25.59-carat Burmese stone, selling for over $30 Million a world auction record for a ruby.

My favorite part of this ring is the absolutely fabulous color red. Such rich color for a ruby. The diamond accents are beyond description with their uniquely cut shapes. Truly a magnificent Jewel.

    1. And it is all natural. Many of the rubies sold today to the mass markets have been treated, buyer beware. This color in my opinion is the best, pigeon blood ruby. Odd name for such a beautiful color. Thank you for adding your comments.

    1. As we all know I can not speak for the owner. But it has been in my experience that these are bought for investment. A quality ruby of this kind is rare. And most likely will end up in a museum or private collection. Maybe worn on a special occasion. And there are some people that have more special occasions then others.
