Van Cleef & Arpels: Les Ateliers in Paris

Inspiration comes to us in many ways.

I have been researching for a project that I am currently designing (top secret work I might add). In the course of my studies, I came upon the unique work of Van Cleef & Arpels, La Maison, master jewelers, on Place Vendôme (since 1906), Paris.

Being a part-time francophile I entered their site and was amazed at how well they use the internet to educate the world about their brand.

This link will take you to the design studio and illustrate the process it takes to create the drawing shown above.

Take a moment from your busy day to enjoy the work of a true craftsman.

Next month we will “visit” the workshop at Les Ateliers.

  1. This really is interesting. When he talks about jewellery being the last craft, you could see the work and attention and love that was put into the design. The painted design alone was beautiful!

Thanks for posting this. I really had no clue.

    1. You are welcome. When I saw the film I felt the same way, our craft is a vanishing art form. Many aspects of Jewelry design have been computerized. I am proud to say I continue to work by hand. Glad you enjoyed the post.
